40 years of the Louis II Stadium

The year 2025 marks the fortieth anniversary of the inauguration of the Louis II Stadium, which took place on 25 January 1985.
Two significant events have been celebrated since the beginning of the year.
Firstly, on 4 February, an official ceremony highlighting the construction and inauguration was held in the Salon d'Honneur, attended by numerous dignitaries and staff who contributed to its commissioning and operation.
Secondly, an exhibition entitled ‘Il était une première fois’ (Once upon a time) traces the history of the Stadium through all the first events that took place there. It highlights the people involved and the users of the Stadium's facilities.
The first football and basketball matches, the first world records in athletics and swimming, the first concert – all these memories and emotions are brought to light, demonstrating the richness and versatility of the building.
The exhibition is open to the public on the pedestrianised street level.
