40th anniversary of the Stadium

To mark the 40th anniversary of its inauguration, the Louis II Stadium presents a special exhibition entitled “Once Upon a First Time”, highlighting the many landmark “firsts” that have shaped the history of this iconic venue in the Principality.

Inaugurated on 25 January 1985, Stade Louis II has, over the decades, become a multifunctional space hosting a wide range of sporting, cultural, and institutional events. This exhibition will spotlight the many “first times” that have taken place here: the first football match, the first concert, the first world record, and numerous other memorable moments.

Organized as a chronological and thematic journey, the exhibition will be held in the stadium’s interior pedestrian gallery, which has been completely renovated for the occasion. A space that sees significant daily foot traffic, it has been redesigned to be more welcoming, vibrant, and engaging.

Local sports federations and associations will also be featured, with dedicated display cases showcasing historical items, archives, memorabilia, and testimonies—highlighting their invaluable contributions to the stadium’s legacy.

Through this exhibition, the public is invited to relive the defining beginnings that have shaped the identity of the Stade Louis II, while honoring the individuals and organizations who have kept its spirit alive for the past forty years.
